The pediatric audiologist will perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and implement individualized treatment plans for infants, children, and adolescents. They will also collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and provide education and training to caregivers.
Candidates must hold a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree and possess a valid New York State license. A minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric audiology within a healthcare setting is required.
Diagnostic Assessment: Perform age-appropriate behavioral testing, including Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) and Conditioned Play Audiometry (CPA). Objective Testing: Conduct and interpret Electrophysiological tests such as Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR), Auditory Steady State Response (ASSR), and Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE). Technology Management: Select, fit, and verify pediatric hearing aids using real-ear measurements; provide cochlear implant (CI) candidacy evaluations and mapping. Newborn Screenings: Provide follow-up diagnostic testing for infants who do not pass their initial hospital hearing screens. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside ENTs, Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), school districts to facilitate educational success.
Guide families through the emotional and practical implications of a hearing loss diagnosis, providing resources for early intervention services.
Minimum 2+ years of experience providing audiology care to a pediatric population in a healthcare setting. Proficiency in pediatric-specific software and hardware (e.g., Verifit, Oticon/Phonak fitting suites, CI programming software). Knowledge of Expanse (formerly Meditech) and Dragon (for dictation) helpful. Education, Licensure, and Certification Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) from an accredited institution in the U.S. Valid New York State Licensure in Audiology. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from ASHA or ABA certification preferred. Pediatric Audiology Specialty Certification (PASC) is a plus. Physical Requirements Standing, walking, stooping. Ability to transfer children and equipment up to 50lbs. Ability to meet flexible scheduling demands and patient care needs.
