The Mohs Surgery Medical Assistant supports the surgeon during procedures, manages surgical workflow, and ensures a sterile environment. They are also responsible for patient preparation, wound care, documentation, and processing pathology specimens.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with 1-2 years of experience in a dermatology or surgical setting preferred. Professional certifications such as CMA, RMA, LVN, or LPN are also preferred.
The Mohs Surgery Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting the Mohs Surgeon during procedures, ensuring a smooth surgical workflow, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing post-operative care instructions to patients. This role involves assisting in patient preparation, procedural support, wound care, and documentation. The Mohs Surgery Medical Assistant is also responsible for maintaining surgical instruments, processing pathology specimens, and ensuring compliance with clinic policies and regulatory standards. Additionally, this role may require cross-training in the Mohs laboratory to assist with tissue processing as needed.
Qualifications: EDUCATION High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience: 1-2 years of recent experience in a dermatology or surgical setting preferred.
Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to stand for extended periods and move efficiently in a surgical setting. Ability to lift and transport supplies up to 25 lbs. Ability to operate all necessary job-related office and medical equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
