The surgical technician is responsible for maintaining a sterile surgical field and efficiently passing instruments to the surgeon during procedures. They also manage surgical specimens, perform instrument counts, and assist with the stocking and transport of specialty supplies.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and have completed a surgical technology training program. Two years of surgical tech experience is required, though CST certification may be substituted for this experience.
Demonstrates through clinical practice a clear understanding ofsterile technique and has a working knowledge of the specialized instrumentation and equipment required for a variety of special procedures.
Two (2) yearssurgical tech experience. (CST certification may substitute for the two (2) years ofsurgical tech experience).
