The Medical Examiner Donation Specialist is responsible for maximizing organ, eye, and tissue donation opportunities by building relationships with coroner and medical examiner offices. They perform clinical screenings, review medical records, and coordinate recovery logistics to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree and have three years of experience in an allied health field such as EMS, surgical technology, or pathology. A valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a coroner office background check are mandatory.

Job Type: Full-time; Non-exempt
Performs an eighty-hour bi-weekly schedule as determined by assigned shift. Required to be available evenings, holiday, and weekends as needed.

Required to travel by personal auto, OneLegacy autos, and/or air to meeting sites and other locations.
The Medical Examiner Donation Specialist (MEDS) is responsible for maximizing donation opportunities at all our partner coroner and medical examiner offices. The MEDS is also responsible for representing OneLegacy to develop those relationships that will maximize the potential for organ, eye and tissue donation as well as assisting in determining if the tissue is suitable for recovery and transplantation. The MEDS is also responsible for gathering clinical information on all CME referrals from the referral facility and additional healthcare providers and will assist in donor allocation as needed.
Duties: and Responsibilities:
1. Reviews cases for suitability, post triage completion by other Coordinators, for accuracy and completeness.
• CME screening, delivery of Tissue to end user, acquisition of Medical Records, Policy & Procedure reading, in office training sessions, meeting attendance, online training performed at a OL facility and chart corrections.
Three years of experience in an allied health field such as (embalming, physiology, anatomy, mortuary sciences, surgical, EMS, EMT, ER Technologist, paramedic, pathology).
CEBT or CTBS certification preferred. Required to have CTBS within 2 years of working in the position. OneLegacy requires employees to maintain their current California driver’s license and current vehicle insurance based on California minimum insurance coverage standards.
Must be able to pass a Coroner Office background check.
Reliable automotive transportation is required. Required to have reliable cellphone when available to work.
