The dietitian provides high-quality medical nutrition therapy, including nutritional assessments and the development of individualized care plans for inpatient patients. They collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care while providing nutrition education to patients and their families.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Food & Nutrition and be registered with the ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration. Additionally, they must be licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and possess current CPR certification.
This position is looking for weekday coverage at our medical center TIRR Rehab location: *20 hrs. week 3 days per week 6–8-hour shifts *Flexible coverage during the week but preferred Mon, Wed and Thursday coverage. *Mainly inpatient patients.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Food & Nutrition or related area. Master's required if registration was obtained after Jan 1, 2024 Licenses/Certifications Must be registered with the ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) CPR Certification (Heart Saver only) from either American Red Cross or American Heart Association or obtained within six (6) months of hire Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Completion of a qualified professional experience required for the registered dietitian exam administered by the ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration Must have the ability to interact positively with many types of people Effective oral and written communication skills Principal Accountabilities Collaborates with the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Establishes goals for nutrition care of patients, conducts assessments, and develops individualized nutrition care plans with ongoing evaluation of nutrition status. Provides medical nutrition therapy to patients and clients appropriate for their age. Modifies nutrition regimens according to food preferences, tolerances, and cultural and religious preferences. Documents nutrition care plans in the medical record, including nutrition assessment, monitoring parameters, goals and recommendations. Provides nutrition education to patients and/or families that is appropriate for age, religious beliefs, and cultural background. Ensures safe care to patients, staffs and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff. Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.
