The Independent Living Specialist manages a caseload of tenants to ensure housing stability by providing supportive counseling and referrals to community resources. They also conduct regular apartment visits to ensure a safe and secure living environment for all residents.
Candidates must have at least three years of relevant experience and a high school diploma or GED, with a bachelor's degree preferred. Experience working with substance abuse or mentally ill populations is required, along with basic computer literacy.
Reporting to the social services coordinator, the Independent Living Specialist is responsible for all aspects of an assigned caseload of tenants living in the program. Specific duties are focused around helping tenants maintain housing stability and include assisting with applications and re-certification for entitlements; providing linkages and referrals to community resources such as vocational, medical, mental health, and/or substance abuse services; and providing supportive counseling. The Independent Living Specialist will also make regular visits to tenant apartments to ensure a safe and secure environment in compliance with guidelines.
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Wednesday-Sunday 8am-4: 30pm
BA preferred. At least three years relevant experience and HS diploma/ GED required. Experience working with the substance abuse and/or mentally ill population required. Basic computer literacy required. Bilingual Spanish preferred. CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR.
