The role involves preparing patients for examinations, assisting physicians with treatments, and performing clinical tasks such as medication administration and sample collection. Additionally, the incumbent maintains medical equipment, manages patient inquiries, and ensures clinical areas are clean and well-stocked.
Candidates must be graduates of a medical assistant program or a nursing school. Prior professional experience is required, and medical assistant candidates must be able to obtain certification.
Greets patients and prepares them for physician’s examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance within the scope of the licensed practical nursing standards. Maintains and assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. Handles telephone inquiries from patients regarding test results, medications and treatment instructions as directed by the physician. Arranges for hospitalization, referrals, or performance of special procedures for patients. Maintains a clean, attractive work area and keeps clinical areas stocked with appropriate medical supplies. Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments, surgical trays, etc. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Graduate of a medical assistant program or school of nursing. MA candidates must be able to obtain certification.
