The Medical Assistant is responsible for greeting and screening patients, administering treatments, and assisting physicians during examinations. They also manage clinical supplies, sterilize instruments, and handle patient inquiries regarding medications and test results.
Candidates must be graduates of a medical assistant program and be capable of obtaining certification. Prior professional experience in a clinical setting is required.
Greets patients and prepares them for physician’s examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance within the scope of the licensed practical nursing standards. Maintains and assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. Handles telephone inquiries from patients regarding test results, medications and treatment instructions as directed by the physician. Arranges for hospitalization, referrals, or performance of special procedures for patients. Maintains a clean, attractive work area and keeps clinical areas stocked with appropriate medical supplies. Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments, surgical trays, etc. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Graduate of a medical assistant program. Must be able to obtain certification.
