The EEG Technician will prepare patients for EEG procedures, conduct tests, and monitor brain activity. They will work closely with physicians to identify abnormalities and ensure patient safety.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for those who have completed an educational program for EEG technicians. Experience as an EEG technician and relevant certifications are also preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): Prepare patients for Electroencephalogram (EEG) procedures by explaining the process, taking medical history, and ensuring comfort Apply electrodes using the 10–20 system and monitor equipment for accurate signal capture Conduct EEG recordings including routine, sleep-deprived, ICU, and intraoperative monitoring Identify and document abnormalities such as seizure activity or unusual brain wave patterns Assist during long-term or emergency monitoring for neurological events or brain death evaluations Maintain and calibrate EEG equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues Collaborate with physicians to support diagnoses of epilepsy, brain injuries, tumors, and other medical conditions Ensure patient safety by monitoring during procedures and responding to seizures or emergencies
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. High School Diploma or Equivalent. 2. Completion of educational program for EEG technicians preferred. 3. Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current. 4. 2 yrs experience as an EEG technician preferred 5. Associate Degree in Electroneurodiagnostic technology from a school accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs preferred 6.
