The surgical assistant provides direct patient care and support to the surgeon during intraoperative procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining aseptic technique, assisting with wound closure, and managing surgical equipment and supplies.
Candidates must have successfully completed an accredited certified surgical assistant program and possess at least two years of relevant experience. A valid surgical assistant certification is required for this position.
The surgical assistant position is a surgery based advanced practice position which includes direct patient care activities under the direct supervision of the surgeon during the first assisting phase of the intraoperative experience.
