The counselor is responsible for managing patient treatment plans, documentation, and clinical records while providing direct counseling and crisis intervention. They also facilitate group sessions, perform drug screenings, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Candidates must hold at least a high school diploma or GED along with specific addiction counseling certifications such as APIT, ACIT, or MATS. Higher tiers require a bachelor's or master's degree and advanced licensure like LAC, CADAC, or LCSW.
