We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in gastroenterology to join our newly opening care center location in Parrish, Florida. The PA will collaborate closely with gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients with gastrointestinal disorders. This role involves performing assessments, diagnosing conditions, developing treatment plans, and educating patients and their families on disease management and prevention strategies.

Essential Duties

• Provide care to gastroenterology patients by developing diagnoses, establishing patient care objectives, noting changing conditions and needs, providing treatments and services involving disorders and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, and collaborating with physicians.
• Develop patient care plans by reviewing patients’ medical histories, documenting physical and psychological conditions, and influencing social factors, conferring with family and friends, developing a diagnosis, and defining interventions, schedules, and timetables.
• Provide patient education on disease processes, treatment options, medication administration, and preventative measures.
• Assist in performing endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies and endoscopies with gastroenterologists.
• Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly in electronic medical records (EMR) system.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and dieticians to ensure holistic patient care.
• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy patient care environments by following infection control procedures, medication administration, storage protocols, and controlled substance regulations while adhering to professional, legal, and organizational policies.
• Improve job knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
