The Certified Medical Assistant works closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care, ensuring services adhere to Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. Key functions include preparing and reviewing patient charts, measuring vital signs, and performing necessary clerical duties like checking inventory and stocking supplies.
A High School Degree or GED is required, along with active Medical Assisting certification from an approved organization or an acceptable Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) if certification is not obtained within 12 months. One year of healthcare experience as a medical assistant and two years of clerical experience in a physician's office are preferred but not required.
