CNA Trainee

• Under the direction of supervisory nursing staff, provides daily care for residents to whom assigned.
• Assists in development of nursing care plans by participating in care conferences.
• The individual may be a trainee for no more than a maximum of 120 days from their date of hire.
• During classroom training time, the trainee is directly supervised by the Program Coordinator, Program Primary Instructor, and possibly additional trainers when utilized.
• During supervised clinical training time on resident unites, the trainee is directly supervised by the Program Coordinator, Program Primary Instructor, and possibly additional Nurse Aide Trainee Clinical Supervisors when utilized.
• Following completion of formal training, nurse aide trainees may be supervised by Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, and Team Leaders on all 3 shifts during work time as they await results of NYS Competency Exam. na

Qualifications

• EDUCATION: Minimum:
• Must be able to read and write English Preferred:
• High school degree, GED, and/or Human Services degree (or coursework).

Work experience

• Preferred:
• Prior Nursing Assistant, Long Term Care experience, or PCA/HHA experience.

SKILLS

• Minimum:
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.
• Demonstrates ability to work under stress.
• Able to relate to residents, staff, and visitors.
• Must be currently enrolled in State approved Nurse Aide Training Program.
• Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and providing basic nursing care to residents.
• Understanding of standard techniques used in providing personal services for residents and in caring for equipment and supplies.
• Good understanding of basis of asepsis to avoid infection of residents and self or contamination of equipment and supplies.
