The staff nurse directs and performs nursing care for cardiac and pulmonary rehab patients while monitoring their physiological responses to exercise. They are responsible for communicating patient progress and abnormal findings to physicians while maintaining accurate documentation.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school and hold a current Missouri Registered Nurse license. Required certifications include AHA BLS and ACLS, with the latter required within six months of hire.
A staff Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab nurse is a professional registered nurse who directs and/or performs nursing care to patients assigned to his/her within the scope of his/her license. The staff registered nurse is responsible to the Nursing Director on the unit to which he/she is assigned. This RN must effectively prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing. Currently licensed to practice as a professional Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Missouri. This individual should be knowledgeable regarding growth and development and assessing the physical and psychological needs of patients in the following stages of life: early adulthood, middle age, and geriatrics. American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS required or within 6 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certified required. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
