Operate radiology equipment under physician supervision while ensuring patient safety and accurate identification. Maintain effective communication with patients and staff while adhering to departmental protocols and privacy regulations.
Requires an associate degree in Radiologic Technology and current ARRT (R) (CT) registration. Candidates must also hold a Kansas Board of Healing Arts license and BLS certification.
Required Education and Experience Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in Radiologic Technology. Demonstrated proficiency in general OR and at least one specialty area in the OR. Required License/Certifications/Registrations Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography and CT, ARRT (R) (CT) Licensed by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts (LRT) Current BLS card within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first. Acceptable courses are American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
Preferred Education and Experience 2 years clinical experience post-graduation. Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations none Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy and proper radiological positioning in accordance with departmental protocols. Demonstrates competency in ensuring patient safety at all times. Completes continuing education biannually in accordance with Kansas State and ARRT regulations for current licensing and registration purposes. Demonstrates ability to verify physician orders, insure proper reason for procedures and safely administer imaging contrast agents. Effectively communicates the exam requirements, risks and benefits in order to ease anxiety and obtain informed consent. Uses proper radiation protection techniques in order to minimize radiation dose to patients, fetus, staff, and self in accordance with the ALARA principle. Demonstrates leadership skills. Mentors other staff members and students. Physical Requirements: With or without accommodation. Light Work: Occasionally exerting up to 25 lbs - frequently exerting up to 10 lbs. 11-25% of the day may be standing or walking.
