The Occupational Therapist will assess patients' strengths and limitations to create and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans. They will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to facilitate patient recovery and coordinate post-discharge placement.
Candidates must hold a degree from an accredited occupational therapy school and possess or be eligible for a New York State license. A Bachelor's or Master's degree is required, with clinical experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Inpatient Occupational Therapy, UHS Wilson Medical Center Primary Work Shift: Day Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Compensation Range: $37.00 - $55.50 per hour, depending on experience ----- Sign-On Bonus: Up to a $15,000 sign-on bonus for candidates who meet eligibility criteria. Talk with your recruiter to learn more. Job Responsibilities: Comprehends, interprets, and follows medical prescriptions for Occupational Therapy. Applies the accepted principles, methods, and procedures of measurement, prediction, and evaluation tests to assess patient’s strengths and limitations, and assists patient to achieve objective short and long term goals. Demonstrates knowledge of side effects and complications of services provided. Administers and interprets clinical occupational therapy services for assigned patients. Adjusts treatments according to patient's response to planned occupational therapy treatment protocol. Maintains accurate records of each patient's treatment, progress, and/or regression according to the Service Delivery Standard using paper or electronic systems, as necessary. Maintains all necessary records required to meet the criteria established by reimbursement and regulatory agencies. Maintains confidentiality of patient and hospital information. Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with patients, their families, and other staff personnel. Participates in patient care conferences with other professionals involved in the management of cases. Provides patient/family education, as needed. Participates in planning decisions for patient's post-discharge placement. Makes appropriate referrals and follows up to ensure proper placement and programming of patient. Interfaces with vendor to provide needed durable medical equipment. Provides direction to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA), departmental support staff, departmental clerical staff (as duties relate to treatment), occupational therapy students, and volunteers. Has knowledge of and participates in departmental and organizational initiatives for performance improvement (PI). Meets defined individual and departmental productivity targets as defined by clinical service areas. Comply with proper hand hygiene protocols to ensure patient safety. Position Qualifications: Minimum Required: Graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy, receiving applicable degree or certificate in occupational therapy course of study, with Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent. Possession of a NYS license or eligibility to be licensed as an occupational therapist. CPR certification within first 3 months of employment.
