The Ophthalmic Assistant performs preliminary eye tests, measurements, and patient history collection to prepare patients for physician examinations. They also assist with in-office procedures, maintain exam room cleanliness, and manage electronic medical records.
Candidates must have 1-2 years of experience working with an ophthalmologist and possess a High School Diploma or GED. A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, and uncertified assistants must obtain JCAHPO certification within one year.
