The provider will diagnose and manage acute and chronic pediatric hematology and oncology diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include performing procedures, prescribing treatments, providing sedation services, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree and possess a valid New Mexico Nurse Practitioner (NP) license. The role requires the ability to manage complex pediatric cases and provide coverage for nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Management of acutely ill hospitalized patients and follow up of patients in outpatient clinic/infusion center *Manage acute and chronic diseases of the pediatric hematology/oncology population. *Order, conduct and interpret appropriate diagnostic x-ray and lab tests. *Prescribe treatments medications and nonpharmacologic therapies. *Involved in teaching and counseling individuals, families, nursing colleagues, and groups. *Work autonomously as well as collaborate with other health care providers as needed. *Serve as health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate. *In patient care for pediatric hematology and oncology patients, provide outpatient clinic follow up and assist as needed with procedures/follow up in the infusion center. *Provide sedation service for pediatric hematology/oncology patients requiring procedures and diagnostics. *Coordinates and evaluates diverse educational offerings. *Contributes to ongoing education and professional development of nursing staff in the area of specialization. *Evaluates standards of patient care and professional practice with special attention to cost effectiveness, comfort, safety, age and disease specific implications and cultural diversity. *Collaborates with various shared governance councils and unit staff to facilitate systematic solutions to patient care issues. *Directs and participates in research and quality activities with staff and colleagues. *Night call, weekend, and holiday coverage. *Performs other functions as required.
