The Gastroenterologist will provide comprehensive care for Veterans, including consultations and aftercare. Responsibilities also include coordinating with health service personnel and contributing to program development.
Candidates must have an MD or DO degree, complete an ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology fellowship, and hold a current medical license. Strong communication skills and the ability to provide gastroenterology care are essential.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical school S. citizenship Completion of an ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology fellowship program that led to board eligibility in Gastroenterology (required) Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory Eligibility for VA credentialing and privileging in accordance with Professional Standards Board requirements Demonstrated ability to provide gastroenterology care to patients Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary teams Desired Qualifications 1-2 years’ work experience in inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterology/Hepatology Experience in academics- teaching medical trainees to include GI fellows, residents, and medical students Experience in inpatient GI management of patients including therapeutic endoscopies and colonoscopies in the setting of GI bleeding Experience in outpatient management of acute and chronic GI and hepatology conditions Experience in the management of patients who are being evaluated for liver transplant and who have previously received a liver transplant Experience in performing outpatient endoscopies and colonoscopies and ability to read capsule endoscopies.
