Staff Nurse – 50%25 -100%25 - DeGowin Blood Center Patient Procedure Unit

• Qualified candidates are eligible for a sign-on incentive up to $12,500 based on years of experience The Department of Pathology is seeking a Staff Nurse to provide specialized care to patients in a highly regulated environment.
• Perform work that involves numerous steps and techniques that require the use of professional judgment.
• Operate cell separators and other equipment while caring for patients undergoing apheresis procedures.
• Provide care to patients with varying levels of acuity and age, ranging from outpatients to highly acute inpatients.
• Supervise designated laboratory staff as directed.
• Percent of time: 50 - 100%25 time Schedule: 50%25 - 100%25 time, Monday – Friday, with applicant's choice of 8-hour shifts (0730-1600) or 10-hour shifts (0700-1730), with rotating on-call coverage for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Duties to include: Performs therapeutic phlebotomy for patients.
• Performs therapeutic apheresis procedures and assists in the development of the patient care plan.
• Reviews and/or participates in quality control and preventive maintenance of equipment Draws Laboratory samples as required.
• Performs record keeping and data collection using manual and computer methods.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
