The Physical Therapist will conduct patient evaluations and provide treatment services in an outpatient surgical center to assist with post-operative recovery. They are responsible for educating patients on injury prevention and ensuring they are ready for discharge.
Candidates must hold a BS, MS, or DPT in Physical Therapy from an accredited school. A current Physical Therapist license and CPR certification are required.
In the setting of an outpatient surgical center, the Physical Therapist will provide high quality services to patients immediately recovering from surgery and seeking to be discharged home same day. The therapist will provide patients with preoperative education prior to surgery and then conduct evaluation and treatment services immediately following the procedure to assist in regaining function and ensuring readiness for discharge. They direct patient participation in activities and exercise programs to restore, reinforce and enhance performance, while performing exceptional patient care. To encourage a collaborative approach to patient care, Physical Therapists have the freedom to evaluate and treat, while being in close proximity to physicians. Primary Functions & Accountabilities Consults with patients to learn about their physical condition and symptoms Diagnoses movement dysfunction and develops a treatment plan Teaches patients how to properly use therapeutic exercise techniques Educates patient and families on injury prevention and post-operative care Assists patients with the use of equipment such as wheelchairs or walkers Assesses patient individualized needs for accessing home environment Maintains patient records and documents goals and progress Schedules patients effectively for best time utilization Interprets and organizes evaluation and assessment data Utilizes knowledge of patient's diagnosis, signs, and symptoms presented and results of diagnostic studies to determine the patient's level of function Sets priorities and establishes realistic short-term goals and long-term outcomes Documents and maintains a plan of care for each patient which includes specific physical therapy orders in coordination with the medical plan of care Communicates the plan of care in formal and informal communication Appropriately utilizes the capabilities of personnel in assignment of self and team members Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to provide instructions clearly and pay close attention to detail Must be able to collaborate with other patient care team members Demonstrate compassion and encouragement to patients experiencing pain and frustration Ability to remain flexible, adaptable, and calm in unexpected situations Ability to exercise sound judgment in stressful circumstances Position Requirements BS, MS or DPT in Physical Therapy from an accredited school Current Physical Therapist license and current CPR required This organization participates in e-Verify.
