The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide direct nursing care, medication administration, and health monitoring for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses. They will work under the supervision of a registered nurse to ensure quality services, document health status, and support individual treatment plans.
Requirements summary

Qualifications
Licensed LPN for the state of Georgia.
BCLS certified
CPI certified
NCIC/DBHDD clearance
Capable of lifting 50 pounds without assistance.
Maintains current driver’s license if doing transportation
Must have a positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
Duties and Responsibilities
1.
Monitoring individuals' reactions to medication or treatment and reporting back to the registered nurse to request that the physician modify the treatment plan 2.
Work under the supervision of a registered nurse 3.
Report to the registered nurse 4.
Specific nursing duties as assigned 5.
Medication administration 6.
Supports individuals in planning nutritious meals, and supporting those with special diets.

Cooperates with family members regarding reasonable requests related to individual needs.

Train staff on the medical needs of individuals as needed 9.
Dispose of hazardous materials in a safe manner 10.
Ensure the medications are documented on the MARs as prescribed by the physician.

Ensure practice of the ‘Eight Rights of Medication’ 16.
Oversee the services delivered by direct care staff and CNAs 17.

Responsible for observing, documenting, reporting and taking action to ensure the quality for services for the individuals 24.
Follow-up to promote quality of life for the individuals being served 25.
Actively participate in the Quality Improvement Plan 26.
Assure that medications are stored according to guidelines 27.
Ensure doctor’s appointments are adhered to and follow-ups completed as needed 28.
Confer with physicians, RN, PAs and NP to ensure the health status of the individual is in compliance with their suggestions, recommendations, referrals etc.

Competency
