Occupational Therapist (OT)

Evaluation

• Evaluate the patient’s level of functioning by applying diagnostic and prognostic procedures.
• Patient
• Outcomes: Use activities and home exercise programs to improve range of motion, muscle strength, and coordination through passive/active exercise and/or activity.
• Minimize
• Patient
• Risk: Helps decrease re-hospitalizations by teaching the patient on preventative measures and making good decisions.
• Family
• Educator/Advocate: Counsel patient and family on the disease/injury and how to manage in all phases of occupational therapy. Instruct patient and family members on proper use of equipment such as wheelchairs, braces, walkers, crutches, canes, and other prosthetic/orthotic devices.

Supervision

• Oversee and supervise total care of patient provided by COTA.
• Communication/Collaboration: Communicate with the COTA on supervisory visit results.

Policies

• Completes all clinical documentation following agency protocol and Medicare/Federal guidelines.
• Rules and
• Regulations: Understand and follow agency policies, procedures, rules, and regulations and communicate changes in schedule/availability to schedulers or supervisors.

• Attend in-service training and mandatory agency meetings.

• SKILLS: Compassionate communicator with a positive attitude Patience is a virtue when working with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers Attention to detail is critical, as is being observant and following directions REQUIREMENTS Occupational Therapist with a current license in the state of employment. Minimum one-year experience as a OT in an acute care setting. Home care experience preferred.
