The Respiratory Therapist provides intensive respiratory care, including administering medical gases, aerosol therapy, and managing mechanical ventilation. They also perform initial patient assessments, document treatment plans, and educate family members on care procedures.
Candidates must hold an Associate degree in respiratory therapy and a current NJ respiratory care practitioner license. Required certifications include NBRC (CRT or RRT), BLS, and ACLS.
Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire Respiratory Therapists to serve patients at our acute care hospital. This position earns a competitive wage based on experience.
As a Respiratory Therapist, you play an essential role in the Respiratory Team, providing intensive respiratory care as medically prescribed. You administer medical gasses, humidity therapy, aerosol therapy, aerosolized medications, non-evasive ventilation, incentive spirometry, bronchopulmonary insertion of artificial airways, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. You also manage and maintain mechanical ventilation. With attention to detail, you measure ventilator flows, volumes, and pressures, as well as analyze ventilator gasses and blood gasses. In order to determine a treatment plan with the physician, you perform and document an initial assessment. You then effectively communicate the treatment plan to the RNs and other clinical staff as well as educate family members about it.
Associate degree with a major in respiratory therapy. Current NJ respiratory care practitioner license. National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certified respiratory therapist (CRT) OR registered respiratory therapist (RRT) certification required upon hire. Basic life support (BLS) certification required upon hire (from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association). Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) certification required within 2 months of hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
