The Cardiac Device Specialist manages the interrogation, evaluation, and programming of implantable cardiac devices like pacemakers and ICDs. They also provide patient education, document clinical findings in the EMR, and respond to urgent clinical needs under physician protocol.
Candidates must have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in cardiac services or device management, with a preference for those holding a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) credential. Strong knowledge of cardiac rhythms and device functions is essential for this role.
As a Cardiac Device Specialist, you’ll be a key member of our Heart Rhythm/Device Department, managing the interrogation, evaluation, and programming of implantable cardiac devices (Pacemakers, ICDs, Loop Recorders). You’ll work under physician protocol to assess arrhythmias, document findings, and respond to urgent clinical needs—while supporting patients through education and care coordination. This is a high-autonomy role that combines clinical precision, technical proficiency, and compassionate patient interaction. You’ll play an active role in shaping outcomes and improving lives through device-based cardiac therapy. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Prepare patients for device interrogations; provide education and informed consent Perform comprehensive device evaluations, including rhythm analysis, threshold testing, and programming under protocol Operate industry-standard device programmers and troubleshoot as needed Manage software and home monitoring systems for device tracking and alerts Document visit summaries, clinical findings, and interventions in the EMR Respond to emergency device evaluations and support the device on-call rotation Ensure accurate billing, coding, and documentation for compliance and reimbursement What You’ll Need to Succeed
1+ year of experience in cardiac services (monitor tech, telemetry, electrophysiology, cardiovascular tech, or device tech) 2+ years of hands-on experience with cardiac pacing, rhythm analysis, or EP device management OR 5+ years of device monitoring experience Advanced knowledge of cardiac rhythms, arrhythmias, and device functions Strong interpersonal skills for patient communication and team collaboration
Vendor experience with device interrogation and programming platforms Prior experience floating between cardiology clinics or working in multiple practice settings Experience supporting remote home monitoring workflows Certifications: Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) highly preferred CCDS must be obtained within 2 years of hire if not already certified Work Environment This is a fully in-office position based at our Olympia location, with occasional travel to other local clinics. All locations operate during regular business hours, Monday–Friday.
