The Certified Surgical Tech III prepares sterile supplies and instruments for surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile field. They provide direct assistance to surgeons during complex procedures including orthopedic, spinal, and general surgeries.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Certified Surgical Tech program and hold a current CST certification. Proficiency in various surgical specialties and current BLS certification are required for this role.
The Certified Surgical Tech III is responsible for the preparation of sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintaining sterile field during case and providing surgeon with sterile supplies and instruments during assigned procedures. The Certified Surgical Tech III is an employee with greater than 1 years’ experience and an employee who is proficient in the following surgical specialties: General Surgery, Urology, Eyes (cataracts), GYN, and Hand specialty in addition to, demonstrates proficiency and skill in basic spine procedures (Laminectomies), Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Total Joints: Including, complicated spinal fusion surgery (including 360 fusions), and Complicated Orthopedics Sports Medicine, Total Joints, and Joint Revisions: Complicated ACL replacement and Rotator Cuff Repairs, Revision Knee, Revision Hip, and Revision Shoulder Surgeries, as well as Total Ankle Replacements and Total Femur Replacements and Hearts. The employee will demonstrate independent practice in the role of primary scrub technician and hold a current CST to be considered for Certified Surgical Tech III.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Graduate of a Certified Surgical Tech accredited program. (CST) training program with less than one years’ experience in a surgical setting required. 2. Certified Surgical Tech (CST) Certification upon hire required and maintained for employment. a. Non-certified employees hired prior to 12/2014 are exempt from this requirement. 3. Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current. 4. Experience and Mastery, in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the generalized surgical specialties, (General, Urology, Eye (cataracts), Gynecology, and Hand Specialty, in addition to, demonstrates proficiency and skill in basic spine procedures (Laminectomies), Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Total Joints, Complicated spinal fusion surgery (including 360), and Complicated Orthopedics: Sports Medicine and Total Joints, and Joint Revisions.
