The Ophthalmic Technician performs diagnostic tests, takes ocular measurements, and assists in ophthalmic surgeries under the supervision of an ophthalmologist. They also provide patient education, maintain ophthalmic instruments, and handle administrative tasks such as scheduling and patient history documentation.
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited ophthalmic program or possess a high school diploma/GED with two years of related experience. Proficiency in ocular anatomy, ophthalmic pharmacology, and the operation of diagnostic equipment is required.
