The technologist performs moderate to high complexity clinical specimen testing across various laboratory departments including hematology and chemistry. They are responsible for maintaining quality control standards and documenting results within the laboratory information system.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or a related physical science and possess a current New York State License. A minimum of two years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting is required.
The Clinical Laboratory Technologist conducts moderate to high complexity testing on clinical specimens in various areas of the hospital core laboratory department, including hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, immunology, and chemistry. Performs quality control on all tests. Follows-up on out of range results and relays critical values to appropriate teams. Utilizes the laboratory information system (LIS) to document examination results.
