The Nursing Assistant provides direct care to skilled nursing residents to ensure their comfort and assists with daily living activities such as feeding and mobility. They also participate in care planning, maintain a safe environment, and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff.
Candidates must possess or obtain Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Certification within 120 days of hire and maintain CPR certification. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with the ability to follow universal precautions and safety protocols.
As a member of the Skilled Nursing team, the certified nursing assistant assists the professional nursing staff by providing care that allows the skilled nursing residents to function at their highest level. Services to be provided for residents over 16 years of age regardless of age, race, religion, and cultural background. Majority of services provided for elderly.
High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred.
Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Certification required within 120 days of hire through verified reciprocity or from completion of CNA training program.
Preferable but not required. Ability to read, write, and understand written and oral communication. Follows universal precautions and utilizes proper body mechanics. Maintains CPR certification. Act 34 (criminal background check).
1. Compliance with rules and regulations of all federal, state, and local governments is a requirement of employment.
2. Provides direct care to assure resident comfort.
3. Participates in team conferences and care planning
4. Prepares residents for meals, assists in feeding.
5. Maintains resident’s rights.
6. Makes rounds. Anticipates resident needs and responds to call lights.
7. Reports to appropriate nursing personnel pertinent information including any changes observed in condition or behavior of resident.
8. Provides input into resident care plans.
9. Assists in maintaining safe and clean environment.
10. Other duties assigned, reasonably related.
11. Assists in orientation of nursing assistants.
12. Completes daily documentation.
13. Keeps informed of fire, safety, and disaster programs.
14. Attends designated in-service programs.
15. Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
16. Attends staff meetings.
1. Other duties as assigned.
