The laboratory assistant is responsible for receiving specimens, verifying their integrity, and processing them for testing using various computer applications. They also manage communication by answering calls from healthcare providers and distributing laboratory reports.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, with vocational or technical school training preferred. Prior experience in a hospital laboratory receiving area is preferred, along with phlebotomy or medical assistant training.
