The pharmacy technician prepares and delivers sterile IV admixtures and prescription medications under the supervision of a pharmacist. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate inventory, narcotics control, and data entry within the pharmacy computer system.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and be licensed with the Oregon Board of Pharmacy. National certification is required within one year of the start date, along with the ability to perform mathematical calculations and maintain high attention to detail.
Ability/aptitude to demonstrate high school math/science; knowledge of the metric system; 40 wpm typing skills; follow oral and written instructions; attention to detail with accuracy and efficiency; perform mathematical proportion problems.
Previous health care experience especially in a pharmacy.
Licensed with Oregon Board of Pharmacy; National certification required within one year from start date.
Medium demands for push/pull/lifting work; able to lift 30 pounds; stand for long periods. Able to analyze work situations, problem solve and work in a professional manner; perform various mathematical equations; learn 1000 generic/trade names; work under supervision in filling orders and preparing I.V. admixtures; understand the principles of a laminar/vertical flow hood and aseptic technique; fill patient orders from physician’s written order and enter data into computer accurately.
