The pharmacist will provide pharmacological information to healthcare professionals and monitor drug therapy to ensure patient safety. They are also responsible for organizing technician workflows and verifying the accuracy of medication preparation and labeling.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and possess a current Texas license as a Registered Pharmacist. A minimum of two years of experience is required for this position.
A pharmacist is required to comply with state and federal laws regulated by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, Drug Enforcement Agency, and Food and Drug Administration. In doing so, a pharmacist must maintain records for controlled substances, remove outdated or damaged drugs from inventory, supervise the work results of support personnel, maintain a current registration, and stay up to date with current standard practices and laws. SHIFT AND SCHEDULE Full Time: Day Shift; every other weekend ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Provides pharmacological information by answering requests of healthcare professionals and by monitoring drug therapy and advising on interventions Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections Ensures accuracy of entered orders and timely delivery of medications to the respective recipient Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with established hospital policies and procedures EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required Current State of Texas License as a Registered Pharmacist Certification in area of specialty (e.g., CACP, CNSC, BCNSP, BCOP, BCPS) preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The individual must be able to: Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff.
