The Lactation Consultant assesses lactating mothers and their families to develop and implement specific care plans that promote optimal outcomes. They also serve as a clinical resource for healthcare professionals and participate in quality and process improvement activities.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) and have 3-5 years of experience in pediatric or neonatal clinical settings. A valid RN license in Missouri or Kansas and certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (or equivalent within one year) are required.
Utilize the nursing process to develop and implement a lactation-specific plan of care for the breastfeeding / human milk feeding family to promote optimal patient outcomes. Meets the educational needs of mothers and their families, utilizing sound principles of teaching/learning. Serves as a clinical resource for the education and consultation needs of the care team. Participates in performance improvement activities.
Bachelor's Degree BSN and 3-5 years experience as a nurse on a pediatric medical floor, pediatric intensive care unit, neonatal intensive care unit, or a mother/baby unit. One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Employees must obtain International Board Certified Lactation Consultant or equivalent within 1 year. The pay range for this job begins at $34.43/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience. Remote Work/Work from Home This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
