The Polysomnographic Technologist performs sleep tests and collects data on patients with sleep disorders. They are responsible for explaining procedures to patients, preparing equipment, and recording activities under the guidance of a Medical Director.
Candidates must have completed a sleep technology program or hold a healthcare credential with clinical experience and enrollment in the A-STEP program. BCLS and ACLS certifications are required, with RPSGT or similar certifications preferred.
Description The Polysomnographic Technician, performs tests and collects data on patients with sleep disorders. Polysomnographic technicians are responsible for giving patients explanations of the impending sleep tests and procedures, preparing equipment for the procedures, recording activities and analyzing results-all while working under the advisement of a Medical Director and/or sleep technologist. Polysomnographic technicians need some polysomnographic training as well as CPR.
Required Education and Experience 1. Successful completion of a sleep technology program, associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or Healthcare Credential (RN, LPN, RT) with a minimum of 546 Clinical experience, that enrolls in the A-STEP Program. 2. BCLS and ACLS certification required.
Preferred Education and Experience 1. RPSGT, CPSGT, RST, or a Respiratory SDS preferred. 2. At least 6 month experience preferred.
