Requires a Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies and valid licensure in Missouri and/or Illinois. BLS certification is mandatory, with a preference for 2+ years of clinical experience and a background in clinical research.

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team. Provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of settings; works under physician oversight as required by state regulation. The Division of Obesity and Nutritional Science, a world class institute with a history of cutting-edge research, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support and conduct clinical research studies focused on diet, nutrition, and disease prevention. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in working with study participants in a clinical research setting. Research participants are seen Monday through Friday in a clinical setting. Job Description: Primary
Provides direct patient care to include obtaining patient history, performing patient assessment via observation, interview and examination; orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies; performs preventative health assessments, screenings, immunizations and care; provides direct treatment and management of acute and chronic disease conditions; develops and implements patient-centered plan of care in collaboration with physicians, patients, consultants, nurses, ancillary care providers and others as appropriate to the patient's condition. Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning disease management, complication prevention, disease prevention, and quality of life improvement measures, and outcome management activities. Monitors/ensures accuracy of patient medical records; maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc. Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with established clinic/hospital standards. Manages health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources; may perform diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with certification and state regulations. Provides management services for clinical research study projects; monitors participating subjects, including medication administration and family/patient education. Works in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety, environmental and infection control standards. Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops. Complete study procedures as needed (for example- place arterial lines, complete fat biopsies, and more as needed) Performs other duties as assigned. 2+ years of clinical NP experience in an inpatient, outpatient, or procedural setting. Demonstrated experience providing patient education and counseling related to procedures, medications, lifestyle, or disease management. Prior experience in clinical research, including working with study protocols, informed consent, and regulatory requirements (e.g., IRB, GCP). Strong skills in clinical documentation and use of electronic medical records and research data capture systems (REDCap). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with participants from diverse backgrounds. Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocols, with a high level of reliability and professionalism. Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple concurrent studies or participants.
