The counselor is responsible for managing patient treatment plans, conducting group counseling sessions, and maintaining detailed clinical documentation. They also handle crisis intervention, patient assessments, and coordinate referrals to community resources.
Candidates must hold a degree (Bachelor's or Master's depending on the tier) and be licensed or certified by the Virginia Health Registry Board or a national board. Requirements include specific didactic training and supervised experience in substance abuse counseling.
