As a nationally accredited program with a strong educational component in The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, the Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) investigates any death occurring across the state of New Mexico that is sudden, violent, untimely, unexpected or where a person is found dead and the cause of death is unknown. The OMI, which is a special program within the Department of Pathology, determines the cause and manner of death in these cases, and provides formal death certification. OMI is currently looking for a Radiologic Specialty Tech to join our team. The chosen candidate will be assisting pathologists with completion of CT scans of decedents for the day's docket. We are looking for applicants with a strong work ethic and who are able to follow complex instruction. Candidates must be able to work in a lab setting and follow protocols for sanitation, infection control, and safety. The position also requires data entry and a high degree of attention to detail. Associate's degree; at least 3 years of directly related experience which may include directly related certification or practicum training. Certification/Licensure: Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards. Records Management Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Knowledge of the physical and operational characteristics of radiographic, ultrasound, and/or CT scanning equipment/CT setting, x-ray exposure times, and safety parameters. Ability to calibrate and configure radiographic, ultrasound, and or CT equipment and associated facilities and devices in accordance with procedures and standards. Ability to safely lift, maneuver and physically manipulate patients.
