The Medical Assistant provides comprehensive patient care in a surgery center, including admitting patients and monitoring vital signs. They are also responsible for preparing laser rooms, managing medical supplies, and providing pre- and post-operative instructions.
Candidates must have at least one year of Medical Assistant experience and a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Experience in outpatient surgery, ophthalmology, and sterile processing is preferred.
Assist with admitting patients from the waiting room to the pro-op area Assist with dressing patients in proper surgical attire before surgery Hook-up patient monitors and obtain first set of vital signs and record assist patients during transfers on/off gurney Keep PACU supplies well stocked Provides pre/post-operative care and instructions. Assists in surgery by preparing the laser room with supplies and sterilized equipment. Stocks all medication and medical supplies by proactively planning work week to ensure completion of required tasks. Calls to request pre/post-ops on surgery patients. Orders all medical supplies. Keeps up with all regular and emergency maintenance on medical equipment.
Minimum of one-year Medical Assistant experience, outpatient surgery experience preferred. Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ophthalmology experience preferred Sterile processing/instrument prep experience preferred Min Max
