Provide post-anesthesia nursing care to patients in Phase I recovery and transition them to Phase II, inpatient, or intensive care settings. Care for patients of all ages across various surgical specialties including ENT, Orthopedics, and General surgery.
Requires an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), valid Iowa RN licensure, and ACLS and PALS certifications. Previous experience in post-anesthesia or critical care is preferred.
The perianesthesia registered nursing roles during phase I recovery focus on providing post anesthesia nursing care to the patient in the immediate post anesthesia period and transitioning them to phase II level of care, the inpatient setting, or to an intensive care setting for continued care,(providing a transition from a totally anesthetized state to one requiring less acute interventions).
