The medical technologist performs a wide range of clinical laboratory tests including hematology, chemistry, and microbiology to assist in disease diagnosis and treatment. They are also responsible for operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, documenting quality controls, and accurately recording test results in patient information systems.
Candidates must hold at least an Associate's degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician and possess a valid Medical Technician certificate. Successful completion of an examination approved by the Georgia State Department of Human Resources is required.
The medical technologist position is responsible for conducting laboratory tests which provide information to physicians for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of diseases in patients.
