The specialist conducts evaluations of hearing and balance to diagnose and manage disorders such as tinnitus. They are responsible for fitting hearing aids and providing audiologic rehabilitation and counseling to patients and their families.
Candidates must hold a Master's or Doctorate in Audiology, a PA Audiologist License, and CCC-A certification. Required clearances include Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 background checks, with preferred experience in hearing assistive devices.

GENERAL OVERVIEW: Conducts evaluations of hearing and recommends treatment to improve or conserve hearing ability. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify, test, diagnose and manage disorders of human hearing, balance, tinnitus; interpret results of behavioral and objective measures. (40%) Counsel patients about hearing health and the possible need for treatment/management. (10%) Assess the candidacy of persons with hearing loss for hearing aids and provide fitting, programming, and audiologic rehabilitation to ensure the best possible outcomes. (20%) Perform assessment and nonmedical management of tinnitus. (20%) Counsel and educate patients and families/caregivers on the psychosocial adjustments of hearing loss. (10%) Other duties as assigned.
