The Histotechnician is responsible for receiving, processing, and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by a Pathologist. Key duties include performing histological procedures, assisting in gross examinations, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
A high school diploma is required, while an Associate of Science and HT certification (preferably ASCP) are preferred. Depending on the specific site, up to 2 years of histology experience may be required.
