Records treatment, response, progress and discharge information in patient's chart or enters information into computer.
Performs physical therapy procedures and elated tasks that have been selected and delegated by the supervising physical therapist in the plan of care to include but not be limited to, exercise, heat and cold applications, traction, massage, gait training and hydrotherapy.
Educates patient, family and significant others regarding condition, treatment and home program.
Routinely confers with physician and other practitioners in person, by phone, or in writing, regarding progress, regression or change of plan.
Consults with supervising therapist reporting patient status and recommendations.
Maintains professional growth by attendance of department meetings, interview and educational conferences. Includes participation in hospital orientation and departmental and community interview education and programs as directed.
Assists with the planning and implementation of new programs.
Physical Therapy Assistant Education and Experience Requirements
Associates degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program required.
Licensure by the State of Connecticut required.
Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
Minimum of one year clinical experience preferred.
