Pulmonary function coord-Rrt

• The Registered Respiratory Therapist performing the role of Pulmonary Function Technologist-RRT is responsible for performing pulmonary diagnostic examinations including spirometry, complete pulmonary function tests and may include exercise and metabolic studies for patient populations served.
• This may include both inpatient and outpatient.
• This individual is a professional resource for physicians and other allied health professionals regarding the performance, documentation and interpretation of PFT’s.
• He/she is expected to provide education for students and instruction to patients, families and caregivers regarding respiratory procedures and disease processes.
• The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining records for quality assurance related to all aspects of testing.

Qualifications

• Education Minimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree Additional Requirements Type of degree: Allied Health Area of study or major: Respiratory Care Preferred educational qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred Licensure/Certification/Registration
• Valid and Active Ohio License to practice Respiratory Care.
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist credential through the NBRC is required.
• Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist credential through the NBRC required. Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist credential through the NBRC preferred.

Experience Minimum Level of Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience Prior job title or occupational experience: Registered Respiratory Therapist Preferred experience: Previous pulmonary function skills are preferred. Proficiency in exercise and metabolic testing is preferred. Experience providing patient instruction in smoking cessation, COPD or asthma management is preferred.
