The Staff Pharmacist provides clinical judgment and professional knowledge to ensure patients receive safe pharmaceutical care. They are responsible for identifying and resolving drug-related problems while floating between the Cancer Center and main pharmacy.
Candidates must be a Registered Pharmacist licensed in California with experience in inpatient hospital or infusion center sterile compounding. A desire for Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy and proficiency in pharmacy software is desired.
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for providing the clinical judgment, professional knowledge, and distribution skills in the Pharmacy Department to assure that patients receive pharmaceutical care which is consistent with the mission of the department and the hospital. The Staff Pharmacist identifies, resolves, and prevents drug-related problems. These activities are performed within the context of established policies, procedures and techniques of Enloe Health, the Enloe Health Pharmacy, and federal and state standards and regulations. The Staff Pharmacist supports and contributes to the service excellence mission of Enloe Health and the Pharmacy Department. This position will report to the Enloe Health Cancer Center Pharmacy and float to the main pharmacy as staffing allows. EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Inpatient hospital or infusion center experience Experience in sterile compounding Desired: One year of hospital experience in an inpatient, decentralized setting Computer experience with pharmacy programs and Microsoft Office Demonstrated application of drug knowledge and clinical judgment Experience with infusion/chemotherapy One-year experience sterile compounding A desire to become Board Certified in Oncology Pharmacy LICENSE / CERTIFICATION: Minimum: Current license as a Registered Pharmacist in good standing by the State of California SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to exercise sound professional judgment. Knowledge of CII Safe/PYXIS operations. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
