Candidates must hold a DDS or DMD degree and have at least three years of recent experience within the last five years. A desire to work with diverse age groups and experience with community programs is preferred.

Under the guidance of the Dental Director, the Oral Surgeon at Hawaiʻi Island Community Health Center (HICHC) provides professional dental care through diagnosing and treating patients during scheduled and unscheduled visits. The role also includes educating non-dental clinical staff, engaging in public service, and performing administrative duties to support HICHC's mission and goals.
The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge in diagnosing and treating oral diseases, general and preventive dentistry, and implant dentistry. They are skilled in administering various types of sedation and performing oral surgeries for both adults and children. The role requires effective communication, a commitment to HICHC's mission of accessible, culturally sensitive care, and the ability to maintain records, follow instructions, motivate patients, and continuously learn and grow in the field.
