Position Summary

The OR Attendant assists in patient care activities and institutional services in the Operating Room under the direction of a Registered Nurse and according to the departmental policies. The OR Attendant I performs housekeeping and transporting duties and specific institutional nursing service duties appropriate and authorized by the situation.

• Essential Functions
• Opens department each morning.
• Prepares housekeeping cart for the day’s use.
• Fills blanket warmer with blankets and fluids.
• Assists in putting up supplies from purchasing.
• Turns rooms around between cases when necessary.
• Assists with transporting, turning and positioning patients.
• Run errands as necessary.
• Cleans and restocks bathrooms daily.
• Cleans and wipes out refrigerator with germicide weekly.
• Keeps rooms stocked with specimen containers.
• Does general housekeeping duties as needed.
• Assists in terminally cleaning of O.R. rooms monthly.
• Orders disposable equipment (masks, shoe covers, etc.) weekly.
• Documents appropriate data as required by department.
• Demonstrates ability to comprehend and follow written instructions, read and write English and perform simple math calculations.
• Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives.
• Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure.
• Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

• Work Experience
• One year of housekeeping and/or transporting experience preferred.

• Education
• High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
