The Registered Nurse provides individualized nursing care for psychiatric patients, including assessment, planning, and monitoring of progress. They are responsible for implementing safety protocols, providing patient education, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Candidates must have a nursing degree (Associate's, Diploma, or BSN) and an active RN license. BLS certification is required, and additional certifications like ACLS or PALS may be necessary depending on the unit.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for psychiatric patients. Monitor and document patient progress, behaviors, and responses to interventions. Provide patient and family education to support understanding of treatment plans and recovery goals. Promote safety by implementing de-escalation strategies, crisis intervention, and adherence to safety protocols. Collaborate with physicians, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
