The Sr. Surgical Tech assists with direct patient care during medical procedures and ensures a safe environment by maintaining sterile instrument fields. They are also responsible for preparing the OR and assisting with the orientation of new staff.
Requires two years of surgical technologist experience in an acute care facility and completion of an accredited surgical technology course. BLS certification is required, and the ability to work variable shifts is essential.
Your Role on the Team
The Sr. Surgical Tech utilizes advanced surgical techniques, working as part of the healthcare team to assist with direct patient care activities during medical procedures. Ensures the environment is safe, equipment is functioning properly and procedures are conducted in a way to maximize patient safety. Prepares and stocks the OR before and after surgery, by gathering and organizing clean and sterile supplies. Sets sterile instrument fields; maintains and monitors aseptic techniques. Assists with the orientation of new staff and participates on departmental committees. Applicants with less than two years of experience may be considered as a Surgical Tech (8931) with a pay range of $32.01-$39.78
What It Takes to be Successful
Two years of demonstrated surgical technologist experience in multiple specialties in an acute care facility Successful completion of an accredited course in surgical technology BLS Required Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, and understanding of medical terminology
Preferred Qualifications: Scrub Technician Certification
